Entering a new team

shutterstock_10284007 Trying to make good relations with a new staff, very often we become far too nice, unable to say no and always ready the help, and then we reproach ourselves for such kindness. But it is already late.

How is it possible to turn the nice colleague down if he asks you to stay late and help to make his presentation? How it is possible to refuse to help your colleague whose child was ill? Unfortunately, such behavior leads to sad results at work. Women often waste time on a trifle, and as a result draw a routine work on herself which distracts from more appreciable and successful actions.

We make the strictest demands to ourselves, even when work is not pleasant. But why we concern with understanding laziness and irresponsibility of others? We often grumble, but thus, we do not put forward the concrete requirements.

The nice colleague will hold presentation with success, having taken advantage of your competent advice. And what will you receive? No more than disappointment from thought that someone has once again taken advantage of you. Popularity is won not by ingratiation and victims, but on mutual respect, correct behavior and a reasonable distance.

Boasting - a fine way to restore against itself colleagues. It is possible to brag in different ways. Try to brag more intellectually, so that a dirty trick was not so simple to suspect! If you used to have a high salary or you have a rich husband it is not a reason to boast because here may work people from poor families or such people who have some troubles in life. And while boasting you make such people feel rather uncomfortable. And as a result you will never get any help from them at work. But you would agree that it is better to have allies then enemies at work.

The longer the team in which you have come (casually and for a short while) exists, the more it is united. The feeling of a time spirit is rather unconscious thing, but it is everywhere and in any long-time-living corporation. Unwritten rules of behavior in staff and so-called corporate morals (specifically "local" meaning and conclusions on what is good and what is bad) - those signs which unambiguously speak about feeling of a collectivism presence between the members of the team.

To ignore norms of behavior in the work group is simple and effective way to incite colleagues against you, including the chief. If the team got used to work in silence, so don't break it. Otherwise you become the worst enemy to the whole team. If you can't leave without music, so you may take headphones. In this case you won't disturb your colleagues and you feel better also.

The important thing for every staff is a dinner. In the amicable and rallied work places the employees, as a rule, have dinner together. And as soon as you begin to have dinner together you may be called the real member of the team. Besides, during the dinner breaks the colleagues very often talk on private topics that can possibly be rather necessary to you. While having a dinner together you can tell them more about you, not only your work abilities but also something about your life out work. Be sure that after a few such conversations you become a member of their family.

If there is mixed staff, including men and women - it is ok. But what if a man gets in women's team or woman gets in men's staff? The woman in man's team does not mean a weak link. She is a player equal in rights. The lady is in man's team is under steadfast attention. Sometimes women consider that beautiful dresses, refined ornaments, a stylish make-up and nice perfume will provide general admiration and prompt promotion. However the man's brotherhood is so keen on work that it will hardly pay attention how the woman smells. Men do not notice trifles. But they would definitely notice the short skirt or low décolleté. To keep a business relations at lady's wear there should be by any detail of man's "uniform". Trousers are not necessarily. Let it be the jacket, a waistcoat or a scarf simulating a tie.

But anyway these details are not so much important if you are concentrated on work only. The one who constantly thinks of work, instead of how strongly he is irritated with the colleague, or how his colleague is dressed will achieve much!
